Buy Dip slides Online

Dip slides - Buy 10+ boxes and pay only £8.34 per box.

Dip slides (or dip slides) are used in Microbiological testing and will show bacterial, yeasts and mould contamination on surfaces and in water or other liquids. Dip slides are used in a wide range of applications, these include: cooling tower water testing, fuel testing, swimming pool and spas, metal cutting fluids, food microbiology and industrial water testing.

Our dip slides are supplied as a two sided plastic paddle with a specific type of agar attached to each side of the slide. Each Dipslide comes in a small sterile cylindrical plastic outer container, this ensures that the slides are fully hydrated before use and also means that the slide can easily be inserted into a dipslide incubator for the required incubation period.

To ensure repeatable and accurate results are achieved, it is important to use a dipslide incubator (calibrated to 30oC) and the sample should be incubated for a minimum of 48 hours.

We offer a wide range of dipslides, our most popular being the BT2 and BTM2 type, which are used for the following applications:
BT2 - General purpose dipslide to determine total count (TTC) bacteria on both sides of the slide.
BTM2 - Total count (TTC) bacteria on one side and yeasts and moulds on the other, the BTM2 slides are popular when measuring for fuel contamination and also metal cutting fluids in engineering.
In addition to these we also offer a range of slides manufactured for specific applications such as ecoli, pseudomonas and staphylococci and many more – please click here to view our full range.

How to use dipslides

Testing on Surfaces:

- Remove and withdraw cap.
- Hold slide by tabs at each end (do not touch culture gel).
- Press one side of the agar against the surface.
- Repeat with the second side making sure that full contact is made.
- Replace the slide in the tube, seal firmly and incubate. Place slide in the incubator upright for the correct time and temperature.
- Compare the incubated slide against the comparator growth chart provided .

Testing in Fluids:

- Remove and withdraw cap.
- Hold slide by tabs at each end (do not touch culture gel).
- Immerse the tongue in the fluid for 10 seconds or under running fluid / spray. Ensure both sides are covered.
- Allow excess fluid to drain.
- Replace the slide in the tube, seal firmly and incubate.
- Place slide in the incubator upright for the correct time and temperature.
- Compare the incubated slide against the comparator growth chart provided.
